'71 Lynch Road Data Tag
-
For 1971, the Lynch Road assembly plant added additional code information to the fender tag that the St. Louis and LA plants did not use. The top row had coding for the Gate number first (2) digits of the five numbers, Base number, last (3) digits from the first five digit number and a (6) digit Line sequence number. In addition to that a (3) digit code was used for the Engine and Transmission, and the last (3) digits are for the Rear Axle and Brakes.
Lynch Rd fender tags may not list all the options on the fender tag. They would use the Broadcast sheet to build the vehicle. Also a second tag could be added with just a few letters punched in from the line inspector.
